Keep things moving
Help your team develop decision making skills, and make sure you make any decisions they need from you.
Use your one-to-ones this week to help your team develop a bias for action. Share the advice you read as part of your personal development, and help them understand the value of a quick decision.
If your team ask you for advice about a decision, avoid diving in with your own answer. Ask questions about their thought process. Make sure they’ve done their homework. Ask them how they’d feel is you chose one of the options for them. Work hard to let them make the final decision, so they can own it themselves.
If a team member needs a decision from you, then either give it quickly or, if you need to do some research first, share a date when you’ll be ready to make it and hold you yourself to coming back to them on that date.
